Blackboard LMS: Discussion Forum or other Assessment Visible in Course with Inherited Release Conditions
Inherited Conditions Making Course Links Inaccessible or Visible & Impact to Other Content Items in a Course A fix introduced in the August release (4000.21.0) caused unintended issues with course links for institutions depending on how their course content is designed or structured. We reverted this fix, which means Discussions and similar items linked in areas like the Gradebook or Discussions tab may again appear outside their intended release conditions. THE DATE SHOWN IS AN ESTIMATE ONLY. THE CONFIRMED RELEASE DATE WILL BE PROVIDED AS SOON AS IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED. After careful consideration and continued testing with customers, we have decided to delay the release Blackboard SaaS 4001.0.0, from September 3, 2026, with a tentative end date of October 1, 2026, due to an important update to Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), a standard many institutions use to securely authenticate users and provide access to Blackboard LMS. The update requires customers who use SAML to review and test their current authentication configurations and, in some cases, make configuration changes. We are delaying the release to give affected customers time to complete the necessary testing and updates. System Administrators: - If you do not use SAML to authenticate users, no action is needed on your part. - If you do use SAML to authenticate users, full instructions for verifying and testing both changes are in our Support Advisory: Blackboard Security Update — SAML SSO Configuration Changes. https://support.anthology.com/s/article/Blackboard-Security-Update-SAML-SSO-configuration-changes
