No data was lost, and all events and calendars remained safe. The underlying issue was resolved at 2026-06-30 19:38 UTC. If you have been affected and are still not seeing your data within the app, here are quick steps to resolve the issue: Tap the hamburger menu on the left side → Click Refresh If that was not sufficient, you can log out and log back in. Should you require further assistance in the matter, please contact support.

  21. Investigating

It appears that Proton VPN works for some, so it has been changed to "Partial Outage" rather than "Major Outage"

  22. Identified

We have identified a critical cooling failure in our Frankfurt datacenter. We are currently in the process of shifting traffic to our backups sites.

  23. Identified

Our efforts to restore impacted services are now yielding results, and as a result are starting to recover for some users. Meanwhile, we are continuing recovery operations.

  24. Monitoring

A fix has now been implemented, and we're monitoring results. This means most services have been recovered for most users now, but our efforts to recover the remaining instances continue.

  25. Resolved

This outage has now been largely resolved, and services are back online. We are still clearing a few lingering issues, however, meaning some users will experience delays in email delivery and reception, and receiving notifications. No data has been lost as a result of this outage. UPDATE: We have now resolved the remaining minor issues. We will be providing a post mortem with more information about the incident, here on the status page, after we complete the incident clean up.

  27. Scheduled

On Wednesday, September 2nd, between 8:00 am and 9:00 am CEST (UTC +2; EDT -6), we'll conduct scheduled maintenance to strengthen our infrastructure. This maintenance will be batched into two separate downtime windows. The first will last up to 30 seconds and will cause complete unavailability of all Proton services. The second will last up to 30 seconds; and during this time, Mail users may experience availability issues (e.g., inbox will appear read-only). Thank you for your understanding!

  28. Investigating

We’re aware that a small number of users may be experiencing issues accessing Proton services. Our team is investigating and we will share updates here as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  29. Scheduled

As part of ongoing work to improve Proton's reliability and resilience, we will perform a short emergency maintenance. A subset of users may experience a brief service disruption of up to approximately 5 minutes during the maintenance window. No user data will be lost. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.

  31. Completed

The scheduled maintenance has been completed.

  32. Investigating

We are currently dealing with residual hardware failures that are likely related to the damage suffered from the overheating incident last week. At the moment we are operating at a reduced capacity, while our engineers work to bring additional infrastructure online. We apologize for the unfortunate timing of this incident and any disruption or inconvenience this may have caused you.

  33. Identified

Database capacity is being restored. Traffic limitations are being gradually lifted and outgoing mail will be re-enabled as soon as the situation is stable. Queued emails will be delivered progressively, and no data was lost as a result of this disruption. Thank you for your patience, we'll update you again once everything is back to normal.

  34. Monitoring

Traffic limitations have been fully removed for all users. Services are returning to normal operation, and outgoing mail will be gradually re-enabled in 15 minutes. Messages that were queued during the disruption are being delivered progressively Our engineers continue to monitor the infrastructure closely as capacity returns to full levels. We'll confirm here once everything is completely back to normal.

  35. Resolved

UPDATE: The incident recovery caused some push notifications related to suspicious login activity to be delivered several hours later than expected. The delay affected only the delivery of these notifications and was related to the service disruption experienced earlier today. The delayed notifications have now been processed, and the system has returned to normal operation. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. --- Earlier today, a subset of Proton users experienced intermittent service disruptions. The incident began during exceptional database maintenance following last week's datacenter overheating incident. The maintenance had been tested and was expected to cause only a brief disruption. However, the switchover exposed additional instability under high load, and this forced us to remove some additional infrastructure from service and operate at reduced capacity for a time. We have now stabilized all Proton services and all are currently operational. No user data has been lost. We apologize for the disruption.

  36. In Progress

Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
